Bakery closes over hefty electricity bill

A P300,000 unpaid electricity bill has left Just Bread Bakery employees in African Mall in the lurch after the bakery was recently closed down by its management.

The more than 43 employees of the company have not been paid in the past month and are worried that they may ultimately lose their jobs as the bakery has been closed since the end of July. An employee who wanted to remain anonymous told Mmegi that ever since July 29 when the bakery was closed after a power cut by Botswana Power Corporation, they were barred from entering the locked premises.

He said the bakery manager, Mohammed Badrodin, has been avoiding them and even took all the keys from his staff.
