African militaries urged to collaborate

THEBEPHATSWA BASE: The Commander of US Africa Command, General Carter Ham says it is important for African countries to collaborate because they face common challenges.

General Ham made these remarks when addressing members of the media yesterday at the closing ceremony of Southern Accord 12 Exercise, at Thebephatswa Base:

"In my experience, the challenges that are currently present in Africa have a trans-national aspect to them. As such, it requires a multinational contribution to conquer them," said Ham. He also said if African countries were to exercise together it might increase regional security.
