Accused threatens to deal with police �after term�

FRANCISTOWN: A 24-year-old man from Monarch location shocked Principal Magistrate Dumisani Basupi when he claimed that police attempted to kill him. Kombani said police officers fired shots to his head but he managed to survive by quickly dodging the bullets.

He said that the bullets ended up hitting a vendor’s stall whose owner Unangoni he intends to call as his witness. The first prosecution witness, Modiri Sefako, a police officer who was allegedly assaulted by Kombani told the court that in December last year, they were assigned to go and arrest Kombani and his friend Itumeleng Sebolaaphuti in connection with a number robberies that were reported in their policing area.

He said when they found Sebolaaphuti at Botsalano Bars, in company of Kombani’s girlfriend, they took the duo to Monarch to help them locate Kombani.
