PALAPYE: Orapa Unitedís vacant coaching position has attracted interest from coaches as far as Spain and England. Club spokesperson, Kabo William told Mmegi Sport that since they advertised the position, applications are coming in thick and fast.
Former Orlando Pirates coach, Kostadin Papic is said to be interested but William said the asking price was too steep. Amongst the European coaches are two Spaniards, Zdravko Logarusic and Valentín De Felix. An English coach is expected to send his application, after a telephone conversation with the club. Logarusic’s last coaching job was in Ghana where he was in charge of Kotoko FC. He has also coached FC Leopards in Kenya and FC Simba in Tanzania. Before coming to Africa, he coached in Croatia, Germany, Sweden and
De Felix is the current coach at Wolves in Australia. The Spaniard has coached in the third division in Spain before jetting out to Australia in the beginning of this year to lead Wolves FC.
“We are receiving interest in different forms and we are expecting more resumes to come in,” William said. “Our intention is to start shortlisting at the end of this month. (By) Mid-January we want to have confirmed our style with the new coach and start processing the work permits and so forth.”
