Moupo vacates the driver's seat

Botswana National Front president, Otsweletse Moupo, will leave the BNF presidency this weekend after serving for nine years. It was a tumultuous presidency, characterised by perennial infighting that almost left the BNF comatose. How should the BNF and Batswana remember Moupo? Moupo discusses his triumphs and tribulations with Mmegi's GIDEON NKALA

Mmegi: You first became the president of BNF at the Kanye congress of 2001. Why did you want to become president of BNF?

Moupo: The initiative did not come from me. It came from other party comrades and party elders who pursued me to become party president. Of course, we had a number of discussions and then I accepted to take the assignment.
