Kunene: 34 Years On, But Still Driving

He is no ordinary employee. John Dingwe Kunene is the longest serving employee of the Kgatleng District Council. The man has seen it all since joining the council as a driver in 1974. The 60-year-old father of three is currently serving as a senior driver at the council where he supervises a fleet of 325 vehicles.

Add to that, he knows the registration numbers of all the current and previous vehicles the council has owned from over 30 years ago.

Narrating his story to The Monitor last  Friday, Kunene said he has been able to endure such longevity as a driver due to his dedication and love for the job.
