World Cup Launch Start On Wrong Footing

In our last issue, we ran a story in which we covered the official launch of Botswana's World Cup 2010 plans.

Botswana announced that it wants to host a top football nation with a huge fan base like England. While the dream is most welcome, there is something disturbing about the launch of the World Cup 2010 plan. Only two ministries: Environment, Wildlife and Tourism; and Youth, Sports and Culture graced the launch.

One would have expected such a historic launch to be a big event with the private sector partners not only witnessing but also announcing their commitment to fulfilling the nation's dream to benefit from the World Cup.
