Hail Masire! Pula!

News that Sir Ketumile Masire was in Lesotho where he was involved in peace negotiations between the ruling Lesotho Congress for Democracy and the opposition parties in the mountain kingdom should boost Botswana's international image.

Sir Ketumile is certainly not a novice in international diplomacy. As a retired president and a peace envoy, he has gathered enough experience to sufficiently defend and agitate for peace and security.

Already, Sir Ketumile is quoted in the media as saying when they left that country, "the issues were more or less settled and the two parties were ready to work together".
Humanity needs to celebrate the deeds of great giants like Sir Ketumile, former South African President Nelson Mandela and Tanzania's Julius Nyerere, now late. These men, when others preferred the narrow and trivial, chose to serve mankind by working for the betterment of humanity.
