Stanchart pays bumper P200m dividend

Standard Chartered Bank Botswana (Stanchart) declared bumper dividends to shareholders in 2012, a period in which profits levels were modest.

In a statement accompanying the bank results for the year, CEO Moatlhodi Lekaukau announced that a final dividend of P140 million (46.92 thebe) has been declared by the board from the 2012 profits adding to the P40 million (20.1 thebe) interim dividend paid during the year. This pushes up full dividends for the year by 122 percent to 67.02 thebe per share.

 "This brings the full dividend out of 2012 profits to P200 million compared to   P90 million in 2011," Lekaukau announced.
In 2012, the bank registered modest results with operating income rising by a marginal four percent to 903 million and profits after taxation slowed down by 5.5 percent to P277 million.
