Limkokwing to stage Miss PASSOBO show

The Paralympics Association of Botswana (PASSOBO) in partnership with the 'Special Unit' of Limkokwing University will over the weekend host a beauty contest dubbed 'Miss PASSOBO' at the Limkokwing hall.

The contest is in a bid to raise funds for PASSOBO for the National games to be staged in November. Sixteen contestants with different disabilities are expected to take part in the contest. The contest comes just after the wheelchair sponsored walk. The games were postponed in July because of financial constraints. PASSOBO Secretary General Tendani Magazine says they have an agreement about the games with their only sponsor, Standard Chartered Bank, under which each pays 50 percent of the costs but PASSOBO failed to raise the money.

He said the games had to be moved to November because the association failed to raise the P200, 000 needed for the games. So far only P49, 000 has been raised. Magazine appealed to Batswana to attend the event in large numbers to help them raise funds. She said they hope to raise P30, 000. Magazine said though it is naturally expected that contest will not be same as the 'normal' one it will still be interesting. Donald Botshelo, Freakzoids and Vixens will perform at the event. Poet David Tatolo has also been programmed to recite a poem at the event.
