BCL Fall Of Ground Leaves One Dead

At least one person is reported to have died following a fall of ground at Selebi-Phikwe's BCL Mine. The fall of ground is reported to have taken place at the mine's number three shaft last Friday night.

It was not clear how many people were injured at the time of going to press, but initial, unconfirmed reports said two people were lightly injured and have been admitted at the mine hospital

While he confirmed that there had been a fall of ground at the mine and that there had been fatalities, BCL General Manager, Montwedi Mphathi would not state the number of people who died or got injured in the fall of ground. He would only be able to do so "after the families of the deceased have been informed."
