New party, centre-left agenda needed

At Tsholetsa House, 20 years ago, Kebatlamang Morake whispered that Seretse Khama had for a long time prophesised that: "There is no opposition strong enough to remove the Botswana Democratic Party from power. If any is capable of the feat, it will be the very members of the BDP".

The words were prophetic in light of the abysmal failure of the opposition parties to seize the critical moment when they could have achieved the feat Seretse referred to.  There are two instances in which that critical moment presented itself: in 1999 and in 2009.
