On Saturday afternoon, Gilport Lions beat Modipane United by a solitary goal in Modipane in what was contrasting fortunes for the two sides, as the former gained automatic promotion back to Premier League after just one season in the dusty First Division grounds while the latter got relegated to Division One.

The first half was a dull affair and it was evident that both sides played with too much caution. A draw was enough to win the league for Gilport Lions whilst United needed all the three points to survive, provided their closest rivals lost on the day.

Both teams failed to create any  clear-cut chances in the first 30 minutes of the game.
