The Botswana Football Association (BFA) Electoral Committee has declared the recently held Southern Region Football Association (SOFA) elections null and void after citing some irregularities.

Sydney Kafeka, a losing candidate, had lodged an appeal with the Electoral Committee arguing the elections were not fair. The Electoral Committee this week concurred with Kafeka, and therefore ordered a re-run. Lesego Leaketsa, viewed as anti-establishment and former president Tebogo Sebego’s sympathiser, had triumphed in the elections. Kafeka had complained that people who had not shown intention to stand for elections were actually voted into the committee.

He said the elections were not fair, as some delegates were not allowed to vote, nominate or even canvass for support during the meeting.
