A man accused of killing a woman he raped and cutting her friend’s throat following a drinking spree has been remanded further in custody after his bail was denied. The accused, Kagiso ‘Culture’ Matendele, allegedly used a knife to commit his crimes in May this year.

On Thursday Matendele appeared before Broadhurst Magistrate Gaseitsewe Tonoki, who denied him bail on grounds that the woman who survived his attack was discharged from hospital after spending several months in Intensive Care Unit.

Matendele is facing a single charge of murder and unlawful wounding he committed on the night of May 2, 2017 near Engine filling station in Mogoditshane.
