Independent candidate in the Tshimoyapula Ward by-election Chibuya Dabutha has decried what she terms intimidation by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

Dabutha lamented that after she was forced to abandon her first choice colour because of complaints by her former party, the IEC now wants her to dump the colour purple.

They told me to stick to the black and white in my symbol,” she said. Despite BCP complaining about Dabutha’s use of the green colour, Steven Sorinyana who quit the BCP to stand as an independent in Ramotswa in 2014 used the colour identical to the one Dabutha was using.
