U-19 boys perform dismally in Cricket World Cup qualifiers

Botswana’s Under-19 boys cricket team displayed dismal performance at the just-ended World Cup qualifiers held in Kenya. The team lost all their matches to Uganda, Kenya and Ghana only to remain at the bottom of the log.

Statistics from the different matches played during the qualifiers reflect that the team had a weak batting and fielding system, which resulted in the side being the biggest loser in the qualifiers. Kenya was the best team and qualified for the Under-19 World Cup to be held in New Zealand next year.

“Well, these are not pleasing results and we were not expecting such a performance from the team. Now they have experienced how the qualifiers are like and hopefully they will improve,” Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) fixtures and publicity secretary, Sumod Damodar said.
