Few bother to attend TAFIC AGM

FRANCISTOWN: Despite TAFIC winning promotion back to the top flight, few supporters cared to attend the club’s elective annual general meeting (AGM) over the weekend, which saw the old committee given a fresh mandate.

Despite the low numbers, the meeting managed to form a quorum, with less than 100 members in attendance.

The meeting managed to form a quorum due to low numbers that are card-carrying members.

Club spokesperson, Warrant Kolola said it was disappointing because the elective AGM is a critical meeting where important decisions are taken. He said the AGM was well advertised and as such they expected the masses that always throng the stadiums to fill the Francistown Senior School hall.

“This low turn up in decision making meetings continues to bother us,” he said. “We have hordes of vibrant youthful supporters who never missed a game and bought our merchandise in large numbers, but it is disappointing when they don’t turn up for such meetings,” Kolola said.

He said it is an assignment for the executive committee to vigorously push the

supporters to register and have their voices heard.

The leadership is tasked with amending the club’s constitution and to co-opt other members to fill vacant positions so as to meet requirements of club licensing.

Technical manager, Carlos Motaung who was said to be considering leaving the club, apologised to the TAFIC family for the reports.

“I have been at the centre of many reports lately and I must apologise to the TAFIC family.

I have not been unsettled, we started this journey together and we are going to carry on together. I support TAFIC and I am here for the long run.”

The committee includes Thomas Maika (chairperson), Bushie Moswate (vice chairperson), Foster Machola (secretary), Masego Ogolotse (vice secretary), Warrant Kolola (public relations officer), Uyapo Monyatsi (treasurer), Carlos Motaung (technical manager), Keamogetse Tamokate (welfare manager) and Peter Ngoma (additional member).
