Mmegi Online :: Chiefs’ warring parties to meet this week

The transitional committee is expected to run the club until a new executive committee is elected by the general membership.  Mmegi Sport is reliably informed that the two will reconvene this week as the search for a solution approaches a promising end.

Chiefs have for a long time been running under two parallel committees in the process losing out some of their financial backers.  Following a court battle, the two groups met and agreed on certain resolutions seeking to end the long running battle for the control of the club.

The resolutions were later turned into a court order. With time running out for both parties, indications are that they will meet before the end of this week to map the way forward regarding the order.  The order is that the two parties should come up with an interim committee comprising names suggested from both camps.

The interim committee will then take over from the Trust until the end of

August.  The committee will comprise nine members with each of the two parties represented by three members while the remaining three will be elders identified by both parties.

During their meeting last month, the other party led by Ramocha Tsieng was requested to meet the members of the Trust in a bid to speed up the process of ending the impasse.

At the time the committee members for the Society revealed that the process was delayed by the fact that they were waiting for the written order, which is now in their possession.

The Trust had also earlier called a meeting indicating that their tenure was coming to an end and will be waiting to meet the other parties where a transitional committee will be formed.

The transitional committee will hold fort until the end of August when an elective general assembly of the Society will be held under a supervision of a body recommended by the interim committee.
