FRANCISTOWN: Police are investigating a case in which an inmate at the Francistown Centre for Illegal Immigrants (FCII), which is also used as a prison facility, allegedly raped another prisoner on Sunday.

The station commander for Gerald police Superintendent Edward Leposo told Mmegi that the alleged suspect in the matter is a Motswana man aged between 30 and 40 while the complainant is a Zimbabwean man aged between18 to 20.

Leposo was cagey with details surrounding the matter save to say that investigations were still at their initial stages. The station commander said inmates should feel free to report any sexual offences they may experience in prison to authorities so that the perpetrators may answer for their criminal actions.
