Bathai Bounces Back As BOKA President

Sensei Tshepho Bathai of Karate Nomichi is the new president of the Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) after beating sensei Mpho Bakwadi of Hayashi-Ha Do Botswana in elections held on Saturday.

What was expected to be a close margin between the two proved to be a walk in the park for Bathai as he grabbed victory by11 votes to six for Bakwadi. Bathai is returning for the second time to lead an association widely regarded as one of the best performing codes at international level.

Bakwadi was the vice president-technical in the previous committee which was led by Sensei David Mathe. When the campaign started a few months ago, sensei Million Masumbika and Mathe had interest but later withdrew from the race.
