The police have noted with great concern the increase in rape cases amongst women who are attacked and raped at night when walking alone from entertainment areas.

Five rape cases were reported over the weekend in villages surrounding Gaborone. In an interview with Mmegi, the Officer Commanding (OC), senior superintendent Counsel Moyo said they were concerned with the increasing number of rape cases in his policing area.

Moyo said in the early morning of Sunday they received a report of rape from a 30-year-old woman of Kopong village who was attacked and raped by an unknown man when walking home from a bar.
