New twist in karate race as president withdraws

The race for the Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) executive committee presidency took a fresh turn when incumbent, David Mathe withdrew from the race. His decision leaves two candidates, Tshepo Bathai and Mpho Bakwadi, to battle for the top post in elections scheduled for April 8, 2017 in Gaborone.

He follows in Million Masumbika’s footsteps after the former president opted out of the race last week.

Mathe and his committee came into office in 2015 on a two-year term, after surviving a motion of no confidence a couple of times.
