Montsho Finishes Third On Return

LOBATSE: Former 400 metre world champion, Amantle Montsho finished third at the Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) second southern region championships held here on Saturday. This was her first competitive race since she completed a two-year ban for taking a banned substance.

Montsho tested positive for methylhexaneamine at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The 35-year-old recorded 54.49 seconds after Lydia Jele won the race in 52.86 seconds. Cristinah Botlogetswe settled for second position after recording 53.04 seconds in the intensely contested race.

Montsho said she was happy with the way she ran adding that her main aim was not to compete for a position but rather work on her endurance.
