The team currently tops the Debswana First Division South log with 20 points followed by Sharps Electrical with 18 and Notwane in the third spot with 16 points.

Fighters started showing their intentions by making changes to their technical team throwing in the experience of Letang Kgengwenyane and Barney Marman. Fighters’ communications manager, Lasters Loeto told Mmegi Sport that the mood is high in the camp because things are going smoothly.

He said Fighters belong in the Premier League and that is exactly where they are going by end of this season. He said when the season started, the entire team agreed to work hard to make the dream come true.

“This is something we have planned and we want to achieve. We parted ways with former coach Mpho Mabogo but we appreciate the foundation that he has laid. It is unfortunate that we had to let him go,” he said.

Fighters welcome Matebejane in their backyard tomorrow. Loeto said they intend to walk away with maximum points.

Meanwhile, the league chairperson, Sam Keitireng said the first round went smoothly as it comes to an

end this weekend. The match that was initially postponed due to rain between Matebejane and Modipane was played on Wednesday. Keitireng said they wanted no game to remain behind as the first round ends.

“As you are aware, the league kicked off late because of the BOT50 celebrations. Last year the first round was finished earlier but now we are closing towards the festive season,” he said.

Keitireng said the issue of block arrangement proved not a challenge because Skoon Boys from Kgalagadi block comes every fortnight to honour games in the South. He observed that the league remains congested and it is not clear which team is challenging for the championship. Keitireng said last season, at the same time, Black Forest had already showed that they are going to the Premier League.

Responding to the progress made on electronic registration of players, Keitireng said teams are still dragging their feet towards using it. He said at the moment only a few teams had embraced it. He stated that the system is expected to be fully utilised during the 2017/2018 season.
