Familiar venom struck the Women Super League this past weekend when one of the fixtures was postponed due to non-appearance of match officials.

The league, which already started behind schedule, was handed another setback when referees failed to pitch up for a match between FC Ambassadors and South East Girls United. This is despite the fact that all necessary measures were put in place when the league started. Confirming the news to Mmegi Sport, the league chairman, Kabelo Moremong said all necessary requirements were in place for the game but only learnt at the eleventh hour that match officials could not pitch for the game.

“I can confirm that the game was not played. Unfortunately the referees did not pitch up but as the league committee we were informed that they would come for the game. We are yet to have a clear answer on the matter,” he said. Moremong further said they would meet the referees committee today to come up with solutions to curb incidents of this nature so that they do not happen again in future.
