PALAPYE: Passengers escaped death by a whisker when the bus they were travelling in caught fire on Sunday. The 65-seater bus was travelling from Orapa to Gaborone along the A1 road when the incident occurred.

According to the police traffic officer based in Mahalapye, assistant superintendent Kgosienalerona Sechoni the accident was caused by tyre binding resulting in the bus catching fire.

“Luckily, there were no injuries or fatalities as people managed to escape from the bus before the fire could engulf the whole body of the bus,” he said.
