SELEBI-PHIKWE: Mayor of Selebi-Phikwe Amogelang Mojuta has said that participants are exiting the newly launched Tirelo Sechaba programme at alarming rate in Selebi-Phikwe.

Addressing a full council meeting, Mojuta said the exit rate in the district stood at 99 percent. At the end of October this year, 198 participants were placed in different departments within the district.

He said one other challenge is inadequate opportunities in the district. He noted that in order to ensure smooth administration of the cluster police volunteers allowances, the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture came to an agreement with Tirelo Sechaba (Botswana National Service programme) to convert cluster police volunteers into the programme. Mojuta said, however, that consultations on how best this could be done were  ongoing.
