Shock as 811 dismissed from public service since 2010

In a shocking development, Parliament has learnt that 811 public officers have been summarily dismissed under Section 27 of the Public Service Act since its inception in 2010.

The Assistant Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Philip Makgalemele said, of these 417 were permanent and pensionable and 394 were former industrial class employees.

“There is another category of employees who are employed on contract terms, of which zero were summarily dismissed,” said Makgalemele.
