In July 1897, James Haskins arrived in the then Bechuanaland from England but little did he know he would found such a solid hereditary which has today become one of the cornerstones of the building blocks of Botswana.

Today, 5 generations later, the name Haskins is common in all tongues across the country now Botswana.

When James Haskins died in 1928 his sons took over to run the company that was then J. Haskins and sons as his sons had joined in on the business after his family came to settle with him. The business was expanded into several branches of trading posts from the Tati stretching all the way up to the Gweta.
