Tladi won the toss and elected to field first. Shinning Stars opening batsmen, Rashaad Mosweu and Lamiru Perera had a tense fight with bowlers Zain Abbassi and Adithia Rangaswamy who were trying to get a quick wicket.

The batsmen displayed a defensive and attacking game that made them to build a solid foundation in the early overs. In the third over, the young batsmen had scored 17 runs.

Rangaswamy broke the partnership in the fourth over, bowling out Mosweu who was settling in the game. By then the batsman had 13 runs from 11 deliveries. His partner soon followed him to the pavilion after he was stumped by Mansoor Hussein from a Reginald Nehonde delivery. A pair of new batsmen, Ogolotse Motlhabane and Thabo Tshwene played some competitive and fast batting which enabled them to penetrate through the experienced Tladi fielders and score a couple of runs. The fielders regrouped to play a solid defensive game but the batsmen continued to penetrate hard scoring boundaries and double runs.

Tshwene tried hitting an arial shot that was caught by Karabo Modise from a Nehonde delivery as he walked out of the pitch with 17 runs from 22 balls. Motlhabane tried to

steady the ship with Gape Mere, but he was also run out by Nehonde, leaving his team with 102 runs.

The low order batsmen were easily eliminated from the game with a string of poor scores. Shinning Stars finished the first innings with 132 runs that had a boost of 26 extras.

In the second innings, Tladi opening batsmen, Saad Mohyuddin and Zain Abbasi scored quick runs in the early overs. Abbassi’s wicket was taken by Thatayaone Tshose through a Mmoloki Mooketsi delivery.

Mohyuddin and experienced Karabo Modise continued the battle with a 42-run partnership after tearing apart the Shinning Stars fielding system. Shinning Stars’ Dhruv Maisuriya destroyed the solid partnership by bowling out Modise who managed 28, leaving his team with 54 runs in nine overs. All rounder Nehonde came in to form a short-lived partnership with Mohyuddin who was dismissed by Perera.

Akram Chandra succeeded Mohyuddin as Nehonde disabled the Shinning Stars fielding machine after striking eight boundary runs that gave him 62 not out from 32 deliveries. The performance helped Tladi to surpass their rival’s score in the last over of the innings as they closed on 136 runs to win the match by six wickets.
