Balekane ba Botswana Association launched

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture under the Department of Arts and Culture recently launched the Balekane ba Botswana Association (BBA). The association, which comprises of mainly individuals born in 1966, is aimed at driving Botswana’s Independence celebration’s mandate and contributes to building hype among Batswana in the build up to the 50th Anniversary in 2016.

The association was founded and registered in 2011 under the societies’ act. 

Speaking at the launch in Gaborone this week, head of Performing Arts at the Department of Arts and Culture Bopelo Gaothusi applauded BBA for striving to partake in the celebrations and development of the country. Gaothusi said the association reflects on Botswana’s achievements since independence and enhances patriotism, national identity, unity and pride. “On September 30, 2016 Botswana will be turning 50 years as a Republic it will also be the culmination of our ‘Vision 2016’ journey. This vision is a mandate that the nation of Botswana set for itself in 1996 to achieve prosperity for all by the year 2016,” he said.
