The soft-spoken Gaolathe could not speculate whether the school heads were acting from political instructions from above. “We had a problem of finding a venue to conduct high school lecture series. The school heads gave all sorts of reasons. I cannot speculate why they refused,” said Gaolathe.
He said he had been conducting these high school lecture series for those who did not do well at senior secondary school in Mathematics, Sciences, English and Business Studies. But he was happy that Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) came to his rescue by providing him with a venue. “We will start conducting classes on June 3, 2014.” He also revealed that he has been conducting these classes since he was a teenager and they are planning to introduce them on a national scale. Gaolathe also disclosed that he also holds seminars for small business people to train them on business strategies free of charge. In future they will divide the constituency into sectors. For instance, they think mechanics can organise themselves and professionalise. Meanwhile last Saturday Gaolathe and his campaign team took to the streets of Gaborone West to pick up litter in order to encourage voter registration. He explained that the idea was to encourage constituents to register to vote and inculcate the idea of self-reliance. “Clean up is part of our strategy.” He added that the main objective of the clean-up campaign was to encourage people to register to vote.
