BFA refutes Babitseng loan reports :: Mmegi Online

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has refuted reports that First Division South chairman, Tariq Babitseng has refused to pay a P2,000 loan. BFA CEO, Keith Masters has said the money in question was paid to Babitseng as a refund and not a loan. “That is all wrong, he borrowed the association money while he was acting CEO and that was a reimbursement. We do not loan money to NEC members, so no money was loaned to Babitseng,” Masters said.

On why the money was recorded as a loan, Masters said: “The young lad in the office made a mistake, I did not know anything about it until it was brought to my attention. It is actually a repayment of a loan. It was a mistake which is being suitably acknowledged,” Masters said.

The issue is reported to have caused divisions at a BFA National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting last week with some officials questioning why the money was recorded as a loan.
