Division A clubs have raised concern over the inclusion of Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) secretary general, Jeremy Alabu, as a referee. The clubs want the BRU official to be removed as a match official so that he can concentrate on running the league.

EMG Gunners’ coach, Bucks Keopetswe has said there is need for a neutral person as a referee and not the union’s secretary general. He said Alabu must oversee the operations of the union and not officiate in matches. “The secretary general has responsibilities, which he can not perform with a clear mind (if he is also a referee). One cannot complain about referees to him since he is one of them,” he said.
