CELEBRATED South African gospel singer Oleseng, whose influence is so big in Botswana is no more. The Mkhukhu singer of Ke A Cha Ke A Tuka fame died of pneumonia that struck him after a car crash, which left him bedridden and mute in mid-2007.

Oleseng's baritone has been the marvel of many local gospel lovers for a decade now with a number of local artists even emulating his style of singing.

According to Sowetan newspaper Oleseng spent a week in the intensive care unit before he was moved to an ordinary ward last Thursday. Oleseng started his music career at the age of 14 and went on to form a group called Atteridgeville Happy Boys in 1976. Success did not come overnight. He spent many years searching for a recording deal. In 1992 the outfit finally recorded a debut album called Mahlomoleng Aka.
