The Botswana Tertiary Student Sport Association (BOTESSA) successfully held their Bracket A, B, C ball games national championships over the weekend. The championships were held under the theme, ‘Sports; a key to drug and alcohol free generation’.

Participating codes were basketball, netball, badminton, soccer, softball, tennis, darts, volleyball, karate and chess. Speaking to Mmegi Sport yesterday, BOTESSA communications and marketing officer, Duncan Segabo said this was their last biggest competition of the year. He said their focus will now be shifted to hosting the Confederation of University and College Sport Association (CUCSA) games next year.

“We are now done for this year’s competitions. We are still however left with hosting BOTESSA awards late this year, which we are yet to set the date. Our focus will be on hosting successful CUCSA games as well as working towards our association’s objectives,” Segabo said. He said the weekend games were successful in terms of the technical aspect. “One of our main objectives with this competition was to send the message to our athletes and youth at large that sport and drugs do not go together.
