Dikakapa climbs the ladder of success

The group has been nominated for the 2008 Kora Awards slated for December 6 in Nigeria. According to the group agent Zenzele Hirschfield:

'The group in conjunction with ZEN Promotions has also arranged for a tour of South Africa, which will run from July 20-22. The tour is aimed at increasing South Africans' awareness of the presence of the group''. She said this is going to be achieved through live performances complemented with discussions on South African national radio, print media and television stations.

Hirschfield added that the group will be heading to Zimbabwe on July 28 for a tour that was aborted due to Kora Awards' nominations. It will be a week-long tour scheduled to end on August 2. Dikakapa Cultural Troupe are also expected to leave for the United States of America (US), courtesy of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sport on August 20. Upon returning from the US the group will tour Lesotho and Namibia. Hirschfield said; ''the tour would be in response to incessant requests from the two countries to see the group live on stage'. Dikakapa meanwhile acknowledge the fact that Gong Master was such a talented musician, but pointed out that his departure has not in anyway paralysed the band. They said the fact that they have been nominated for the Kora awards through their latest offering - Mmalebeto - confirms this. The group's agent saluted all the fans for their 'undying support'.
