The lineup includes amongst others ATI, Vee Mampeezy, Punah Gabasiane, Slizer, Mlesho, Berry Heart and Skavenja to mention but a few.
BOMU President, Pagson Ntsie told Arts & Culture that the idea was birthed last year after the awards. “Four artists being Vee, ATI, Berry Heart and Skavenja came to us with the idea to bring unity in the music industry,” he said. He also said they wanted to bring all Botswana musicians under one roof and show Batswana that local acts can make it without foreign artists in the lineup. Ntsie said back in the day veterans like Alfredo Mos thrived without local and therefore they want to bring some o that magic back. Ntsie added said they want to make it a tour and next after Gaborone will be Francistown and then Maun. “We have eight chapters in the country so we want to reach everyone,” he said. He further said they want to raise funds for the association. “We will not be beggars therefore when situations like death come we would be in a better position to handle it”. Ntsie said they want to create a stable financial arm not to depend on the government
Ntsie was quick to mention that the Gaborone show is not exclusve to BOMU members but even non-members will take part. “Most of these artists were BOMU members but they have not renewed their membership. If we want to see this through we should allow every artist and not discriminate,” he said.
Ntsie, however, said with the shows in Maun and other places they would have to be strict because there are issues of policies involved. He said they started with Stanbic Bank Piazza because the owners of the venue understand their vision. He said even though entertainment hours are still a hindrance, they will make the show a memorable one. “We start small, but it will be bigger as we go on,” he said. Tickets for the show are sold at P50 while VIP costs P200.
