Khama Sets Up Joint Advisory Council

 

A statement from the National Assembly says that the main mandate of this committee is to consult with the public and determine causes of social ills that afflict communities such as domestic violence, rape, child abuse, youth indiscipline and others and recommend to government possible strategies for addressing such ills.

'The committee is also expected to determine the role that can be played by traditional leaders and other community leaders in re-instilling the social values.  Membership of the Social Committee comprises of four Ntlo ya Dikgosi members and two representatives from Botswana Council of Churches,' the statement says.

The committee is scheduled to go on a country tour from today until August 15.  They will consult with the ministries of Education and Skills Development, Local Government and Youth, Sport and Culture in Gaborone.
