Chiefs To Parade New Stars

'All our supporters who want to see our new signings, must come to the stadium on Saturday. By the end of the week, we would have completed negotiations with the targets (players the club wants to recruit),' said Chiefs' chairman, Ernest Molome.

There have been feelings that Magosi does not need to sign new players because it already has a star-studded squad. But Chiefs Molome differs. He believes that it is important to bolster the squad as they prepare for a demanding season, which involves campaigns in the CAF Champions League, Coca-Cola Cup and Premier League.

Molome told Monitor Sport on Saturday that they have good players who can soldier on until the end of next season, but they need to reinforce the squad because they will be playing many games next season. 'We want to go and compete in the Champions League, hence we are bringing in more players,' he added.

Molome said having enough depth will help them as they will express themselves well in all competitions. He believes that having a big squad will help when they have injuries and suspensions.

He pointed out that it is important for Magosi to do well in the Premier League next season. Chiefs set a new record in Botswana football when they finished the season without a loss in 30 games.

In recent times, a number of players have been linked to Magosi, but none had arrived by last week. Abednico Powell (Extension Gunners), Dirang Moloi (Notwane), Derrick Ntumbayi (Boteti) and Michael Mogaladi (Maritzburg United) have all been reported to be headed to the Kgatleng giants. Last week, Magosi launched another move for Notwane's long-serving utility defender, Mpoeleng 'Stopper' Mpoeleng. Molome said they have not given up on the players they want to recruit.
