Senior education officials retire

Makgothi has been in charge of educational development services since 2004. He has been at the ministry for over 30 years. He started his career in 1976 as a Science teacher at Madiba Secondary School. He became the deputy head of the school in 1980 and headmaster a year later. Makgothi was later transferred to head Gaborone Secondary School for eight years. He was promoted to head planning, statistics and research division in the Ministry of Education.

Makghothi graduated from the University of Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland (UBLS) with a Bachelor of Science degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Management from Edinburgh University. He has attended advanced training programme in educational planning and management in Paris.

Tambula graduated from UBLS with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Geography and started his career in education in 1977 at Mc Connell College in Tutume. He became a deputy headmaster and then was promoted to head Mahalapye Secondary School.

He has a Masters in Education Management from the US. Tambula has served as regional education officer and deputy director in the secondary education department. He has been the director of the department for the past three years.

Motswakae graduated from UBLS with a Bachelor of Arts in English and History. He has been with the ministry for over 34 years. He started at Molefi Secondary School before eventually heading Letlhakane Junior Community Secondary School. He moved to Seepapitso as the school head and later became the deputy director in Unified Teaching Service.He has worked as a chief education officer and director of secondary education.

In the past three years, Motswakae has been the director of Ministry Management. He has a postgraduate diploma in Linguistics and English from Edinburgh and a Master of Science in Educational Management and Administration.
