Batlokwa coronation ready for take-off

'We have raised more than P100,000 and 22 pledged beasts,' said Katse. Along with the cattle he  told Mmegi that the chief has also received two wild animals. 'We have received an antelope and a hartebeest,' he added.

So far, it is understood that the committee is waiting for food supplies promised by some Gaborone companies.

Batlokwa want their chief to be dressed in a leopard skin to single him out among the tribes people.

Kgosi Pule Gaborone, a teacher by profession, and still in his early 30's, took the throne following the death of his father, Kgosi Moshibidu Gaborone, in 2005.

The organising committee's treasurer, Elijah Katse, nephew to the Batlokwa royalty in the chieftainship lineage, indicated that plans for the event were at an advanced stage.
The Batlokwa coronation ceremony, which promises to be historic, is scheduled for Saturday 18th.

According to Katse, a number of leading companies and individuals have helped the organising committee with contributions.

House of Chiefs Chairman, Kgosi Seepapitso IV, is enlisted as one of the guest speakers at the ceremony.

Among other dignified dignitaries will be President Festus Mogae and tribal leaders from Botswana, Lesotho and South Africa.

'All churches in Tlokweng will meet this weekend to begin the ceremony at the main Kgotla to pray together for next week's event,' Katse announced.
