Tango Boys lose star players

TASC spokesperson Jonas Ikgopoleng said that Amos got a new job in Gaborone while Mokgathi, who is a soldier, has been transferred to the capital city. He said it was not going to be easy for TASC to monitor the players while in Gaborone and they decided to release them. The two players were on duty for TASC for the last time a fortnight ago when the Tango Boys were defeated 2-1 by Gaborone United (GU) at UB Stadium. Amos has been with TASC for 11 years. His departure and that of Mokgathi come hardly two weeks after former TASC captain Patrick Oremeng dropped to Second Division side Tonota FC.

Another player who might leave TASC is striker Terrence Mandaza. Ikgopoleng confirmed that they have given BDF XI the green light to talk to the Zimbabwean. He denied reports that Mokgathi, a soldier, was forced to relocate to the city so that he can play for the army side BDF XI, which is struggling upfront.

Ikgopoleng said midfielder Motshidisi Nkolo, who played for TASC on loan, has returned to his team Flamengo Santos. Another defender Benny Dikobe is in talks with neighbours TAFIC. Ikgopoleng told Mmegi Sport yesterday that Dikobe might possibly move as TAFIC is expected to finalise his recruitment before the transfer window closes this week.

Despite the players' exodus, the TASC spokesman is not worried. 'We have a pool of players with potential. This (exodus) does not mean anything to us but shows that TASC can produce quality players who get recognition from other teams,' said Ikgopoleng. He added that the club has a number of players to fill the void left by those who have left.

TASC is negotiating with Great North Tigers' Zambian striker Joseph Chanda to fill the gap left by Mokgathi. Ikgopoleng said Chanda is a reliable striker and can score valuable goals just like Mokgathi. He indicated that apart from Chanda, TASC does not intend to buy more players. Ikgopoleng is happy about the overall performance of the club in the first round. He promised that they would continue where they left when the second round starts.

He urged supporters not to press panic buttons because the sudden departure of key players will not affect their mission of a top four finish in the Premier League.
