Losers bitter with BOMU, says Dedcoh

Dedcoh, who was nominated in the Best Newcomer category alongside Ghavorr, Thusego, and Stompie and in the Best Kwasa-kwasa category alongside, Franco, Alfredo Mos and ChrisManto7, says the organisers and the judges knew the criterion they were using and that those complaining are just bitter losers.

'Artistes should know that in competitions like this we couldn't all be winners.
Whenever one enters a competition, he or she must know that ultimately there will be winners and losers,' says Dedcoh.
However, the artiste says though he is happy with the outcome of the awards, there is still much room for improvement.

He says that some newcomers in the industry did not get enough publicity on Motsweding FM and he believes someone must have been sleeping on the job.
'I believe that Mascom, as the sponsors, should have made sure all nominees got equal publicity on the radio station,' says the artiste, adding that he fears that some established artistes hogged the limelight.

Dedcoh also believes that on the night of the awards, the spotlight is taken away from the artistes, as they are not given a chance to stage live performances.
But unlike others, he feels that there was nothing wrong in some BOMU committee members entering the contests, as the awards are a platform for all Botswana artistes to showcase their works.

The rumba artiste also bemoans that the genre is dying a natural death in the country and that it is being overtaken by traditional music and kwaito-kwasa.
He says rumba artistes must put aside their differences and work together to revive the genre.
Dedcoh is set to release a follow-up album in the near future.
