Chibuye inspires Tango Boys

Since joining the Tango Boys late last year, the Zambian has transformed the team from relegation candidates to a side that might challenge for top honours, though Mochudi Centre Chiefs look set to run away with the title.

Under his leadership, TASC has won three games, drew two and lost one against Gaborone United. After a win against hapless Mogoditshane Fighters over the weekend, Chibuye's charges moved a step up the league log and are now fourth with 26 points from 17 games. They beat Fighters 2-1 at SSKB Stadium courtesy of Terrence Mandaza's brace. The victory came a week after the Tango Boys beat Coca-Cola Cup champions BMC by a solitary goal. Chibuye said he is happy that his tactics are working for the Francistown-side. 'As a new coach in Botswana, I am happy that my team is doing well,' said the former Zambia national Under-20 coach. He asserted that the boys are responding well during games and at training.

'If there is harmony in the team, results would come,' he said. His contract says he must lead the Tango Boys to a top four finish come the end of the season. Chibuye said he would work hard to achieve the set targets. He indicated that losing experienced players like Ernest Amos, Mokgathi Mokgathi and Patrick Oremeng during the January transfer window has not affected the team. The coach expressed confidence in the squad he has, saying the players can do the work.  TASC played with purpose against Fighters last weekend. It was clear from the first whistle that they mean business when Mandaza netted in the opening minutes of the poorly attended match. Fighters equalised in the second half through Martin Kawimba from the penalty spot.

However, the visitors were not demoralised as they kept surging forward with a blistering pace that Fighters' defence could not cope with. In the 75th minute, Mandaza pounced on a rebound to give his side a well-deserved victory. This is Mandaza's ninth goal in the Premier League.
