Moroka to open Riverwalk shop

The Riverwalk store is now the largest in the local Woolworths chain, boasting some 1,637 square metres of floor space, up from a mere 500 square metres before the revamp took place. This means it can now accommodate more clothing, food and homeware sections under one roof, as well as carrying a greatly expanded range of items in all departments.

To mark the official opening, the store is offering customers a number of in-store promotions and discounts throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Shoppers will be eligible for spot prizes and special offers and GABZ FM will be conducting a live broadcast in Riverwalk Centre on Saturday.

A group spokesman said in a statement yesterday that 'surveys have shown that the local consumer is becoming increasingly sophisticated and demanding, in terms of both quality and service. Woolworths is a niche market chain, which appeals to this new breed of consumer by fulfilling those needs.

The typical Woolworths customer is environmentally conscious and concerned with product purity, planet protection and humane farming methods.' In terms of food, the group's tastes tend to be catholic and multi-cultural. They are open to exotic cuisine but always with the emphasis on quality, which they equate with value for money.

The spokesperson said the Riverwalk project is part of Woolworths' continuing commitment to Botswana and the first phase of a national expansion programme, which will cover Serowe and Kasane in the near future.
