DJ Kutlwi finally releases a single

DJ Kutlwi (Real name Emang Kutlwano Jakoba) started as a dancer but decided to venture into the male dominated profession last year. In an interview with Showbiz, DJ Kutlwi said the song was released last month and it is already playing in the radio stations.

The DJ from Molepolole said the song is meant to show that people love her as ‘lepantsola la Jeso’. She said working with a big artist like Vee in the song could encourage her to unleash her best. “Dramaboi is very popular and he is a hip hop artist and people can appreciate my music,” she said. DJ Kutlwi further commended Vee for discovering her talent.

Looking back, DJ Kutlwi said she never recognised her talent until Vee Mampeezy helped to discover it. “I realised then that I have a passion for this profession. DJ Chabo taught me everything from scratch up until I was finally perfect,” she said.

She said at first she was a dancer for Vee and developed an interest on the decks during the festivals.  “I knew if I put my heart to it I would succeed,” she said. DJ Kutlwi said she loves dancing but being a DJ works better for her. She indicated that many people who believed in her craft inspired her to continue. “I can learn a lot from being a DJ and it can take me somewhere because I am looking up to female DJs like Zinhle. She said she faces a lot of challenges just like most newcomers because of lack of recognition. “With practice I can go somewhere and I hope for people’s support,” she said.
