Mambo wins big at FUB awards

The Union engaged all the players from the 16 Premier League teams to vote for their best 11 this season as well as the most outstanding. Mambo, voted as one of the best four defenders came out tops and scooped a special jersey from All Kasi.

He also received P10,000 from the same company. Mambo played a critical role for Orapa this season leading them to a third place finish in the league. He also helped his side clinch the Mascom Top 8 title. He is one of the five Orapa United players in this season’s FUB team of the year.

Others team mates who made it into the team are his captain, Thabang Mosige, Thabang Sesinyi, Mosimanegape Robert and Ronald Chikomo. Township Rollers also have five players in the team with Tshepo Motlhabankwe and Simisane Mathumo completing the defence alongside Mambo and Mosige. Maano Ditshupo, Lawrence Majawa and Segolame Boy have been voted as the three best midfielders while Chikomo, Sesinyi and Mochudi Centre Chiefs’ Tendai Nyumasi complete the striking force. Each player received a framed jersey as well as P2,000 courtesy of Botswana Building Society (BBS).

Speaking at the awards ceremony, FUB honorary president, Diphetogo ‘Dipsy’ Selolwane said the winners should be proud that they have been selected as the best by fellow players.

“Had this happened to me during my playing times, I would have been very proud even today,” he said. The awards will include women’s football next year.
