Masisi makes surprise appearance at GIMC music festival

It is rare for the second citizen to attend a music festival, but Vice President, Mokgweetsi Masisi, who is known for his love for selfies and personal slogan, ‘Go masisi blind’, relaxed at the MultiChoice marquee.

The show, which was headlined by South Africa’s Mafikizolo, Khuli Chana and Gareth Cliff had a low turn out. Local artists, however, gave their neighbours a run for their money on the stage.

Kickstarting the show, local hip-hop artist Ozi F Teddy churned out some of his hits. But it was Charma gal of Culture Spears fame, who stole the show on the night.

Charma gal, who did not shy away from appearing at the event with her reported new lover, fresh from her messy and widely publicised divorce from ex-husband and member of Culture Spears, Kabelo Mogwe, dished out her latest songs with passion.  Her hits Hardrock and Sekuta had revelers taking to the dance floor.

Sasa Klaas also performed some of her hit singles including A ke Mokhande, in which she features Scar.

She also performed her latest song, Mmamongwato, which has landed her a YAMAs 2015 nomination.

Mafikizolo started the international acts withsheer brilliance and class. They started their set with their old tunes before delving into into hits from their acclaimed latest album, with  which they toured the world.

Although it was released in 2014, the song Khona proved to still be a favourite with the local crowd who called for an encore as the award-winning group left the stage.

Mafikizolo duo, Theo Kgosinkwe and Nlhanhla Nciza, were dressed to the nines in stylish garb and changed their outfits twice during their stage act.

South Africa Motswako giant, Khuli Chana followed the duo. Clad in his Khuli Chana headgear, the Tswa Daar hit maker was a marvel to watch on stage, with his energetic performance. Motswako fans sang along to some of his hits, which included his latest single, No Lie.

When Khuli Chana left the stage Gareth Cliff jumped onto the decks, followed by former Big Brother Africa housemate OnealAfrica.
